Given the steady growth indicators, we’d like to share our first large‑scale case of implementing digital menus in the restaurant sector. After the decision to start the project was approved, the Innovative DMC team provided comprehensive consulting on implementing and monetizing Digital Signage technology. The first stage of the project involved analysis of the company’s operations and financial performance, and in‑depth analysis of pricing and assortment policies. We assessed financial indicators and the economic feasibility of deploying digital signage. We conducted the necessary calculations on investment risks and provided Subway franchisees with detailed analytics and ROI projections for implementing digital menus across various formats, locations and federal districts in the Russian Federation.
Based on these data, the company was able to clearly and fairly assess its current position and prospects for further development and cooperation with our Digital Signage experts. Accordingly, a unique solution was proposed for each of them.
- In large high‑traffic restaurants, multiple monitors (5–6 each) were integrated into the interior and installed across several checkout points;
- In food courts, digital signage and menus were positioned at the order pickup area;
- In smaller outlets with a single checkout, the space type was taken into account and 3–4 monitors were installed.
Three formats were therefore approved. For each site/format included in the pilot project, standards were developed, monitors were selected and the appropriate software‑hardware complex based on the #iDS system was chosen.
We would like to highlight the implementation of a digital menu at the Subway restaurant in Domodedovo‑2 Airport. Our company fully developed the structural design and a 3D mockup of the food point executed as a 360‑degree island. We defined the restaurant concept and optimal monitor placement to attract passengers’ attention from all directions. The high‑traffic project delivered the expected strong results and confirmed the feasibility of implementing innovative Digital Signage solutions.

Unique branded content for Subway restaurants was developed over several months. At that time we had minimal ready‑to‑use sales materials suitable for digital menus. The company had relied only on printed POS materials in the form of low‑effectiveness city‑lights. We needed to adapt those and transfer them into a digital brand book, which was also developed by Innovative DMC specialists. We did so successfully.
Our blog has previously discussed creating “appetizing” visuals for digital menus (digital menu board) and signs (digital signage). We know this is true artistry: appetizing content is the primary tool in implementing digital menus and Digital Signage technology.
Moreover, the pilot project posed an immediate challenge because the restaurants were located across different time zones and federal districts. This complicated the task of synchronizing content management processes. However, a well‑thought‑out system algorithm, carefully selected software‑hardware equipment and competent implementation led to excellent results.
