TOP 10 Conceptual Projects Using Digital Signage and Interactive Technologies in the Banking Sector

Innovative approaches to consumer communication are an integral part of any business’s digital strategy. The banking and financial services sector is no exception. As most banking tasks and operations can now be performed online via a personal device, financial institutions are forced to change strategies and adopt all available market solutions. In one of our previous articles we examined “The Use of Digital Signage and Digital Signage Solutions in Banks”. However, customer expectations keep rising and competition in financial services grows daily. Automating centralized content‑management processes across numerous branches becomes a key priority. Digital signage and advertising monitors are the key to a new vision of banking service. Digital signage, advertising monitors, video walls and interactive kiosks are becoming important elements of modern banking operations and enhance client engagement. In this article we have collected the TOP 10 projects that use Digital Signage and Interactive Technologies in the banking sector.

ANZ

ANZ’s strategy is to become a hub of multi‑faceted banking and financial services in the Australian market. The offered services include not only standard operational packages but also investment services and various insurance packages. This format is called “ANZ Grow.” Clients can obtain practical financial information — expanded, free, practice‑oriented financial guidance — all using innovative Digital Signage and Interactive Technologies. According to the bank’s experts, the future of the financial sector will move toward adopting innovative solutions and automating all processes, including centralized content management systems.

Emirates Islamic Bank

This pilot project is a branch in Dubai Mall. It’s aimed at retail customers but also features a dedicated Priority Banking Lounge for VIP clients. Main functions include an interactive self‑service lounge, a Quick Inquiry Wall, private meeting areas and corporate meeting rooms. A massive video wall in the central hall acts as a dynamic advertising surface to attract new customers and boost interest from existing ones.

DuPont Community Credit Union

The project was implemented in an Open Space format. The emphasis is on space, openness and maximum natural light, which during the day penetrates almost every corner of the branch. High ceilings, by design, give the branch a sense of openness. This approach blurs the boundary between back office and front office, using architectural solutions to convey that the Credit Union is open to its customers and part of the community. It signals the key message: “See, we have nothing to hide…” The presence of digital signage and advertising monitors positions the branch as a modern financial service center.

QT Mutual Bank

A transparent floor‑to‑ceiling facade lets passersby see the bright design and attractive interior, alongside a harmonious mix of furniture colors. The project’s implementation included digital signage and advertising monitors to broadcast promotional and informational content for visitors. This branch design proves that creating an effective space does not require massive investment or thousands of square meters. To create something special and branded, it’s enough to correctly translate company values visually. Separately mounted high‑brightness screens in the facade and video walls installed in different parts of the branch fit harmoniously into the overall interior design.

Commercial Bank of Dubai

The branch may be small but symbolizes innovation through leading Digital Signage technology. A must‑have in each branch is a massive 3×3 video wall made of narrow‑bezel professional high‑brightness LCD panels — the anchoring element of the branch. Several interactive touch tables, digital demo displays and two advanced ATMs complete the setup. Thanks to a semi‑transparent ceiling, rustic parquet and other industrial design touches, this implementation resembles a futuristic retail store.

Virgin Money – Haymarket Lounge

The new Haymarket lounge is just minutes from Piccadilly Circus and offers Virgin Money customers a completely new consumer experience. The branch is divided across several levels. On the ground floor customers can relax, watch TV, or explore information about Virgin Money on a huge interactive touch display. The lower level is styled like an aircraft cabin with real seats. A bank history hall, unconventional for banks, recreates the feel of a comfortable airplane cabin. This space is used for seminars and financial education events. Haymarket Lounge plans to use technology enabling customers to hold real‑time video conferences with specialist advisors located at other Virgin Money sites. Six similar branches are currently open in the UK, with more planned soon.

Santander – ‘Smart Red’

This pilot project implemented the first Santander “retailing” branch and launched a global reform and rollout of the new concept across the network. The project has several strategic goals. The bank aims to move customers to alternative channels while still offering the full range of traditional branch services, doing so with a cost‑effective solution designed to celebrate the Santander brand.

La Caixa – Concept Branch

This 3D visualization was developed by John Ryan for a new CX branch competition. It relies on a “cashier” solution for transactions and elegant zoning. Branded branches across the network present a fresh take on symmetrical, large and often bulky elements rarely seen in other banks. An integral element of each innovative branch is a large video wall consisting of nine narrow‑bezel displays.

BBVA Compass

This is a “micro‑branch” offering the most common and in‑demand services. The format targets small premises of 30–50 m2. At the front is the primary operator workspace, followed by a teller area with comfortable seating. Next is a compact micro‑vestibule that can accommodate about 4–5 people. Each branch has two small meeting rooms for corporate meetings, and each location features an ATM or a secure 24/7 ATM area.

Island Savings

Conservatism and minimalism guide the workspace design. The interior uses natural materials combined with wood and glass, creating a refined sense of elegance. Despite solid textures and glass partitions, the design embodies hospitality and an educational atmosphere. To enhance communication with clients and broadcast dynamic promotional and informational content, each branch is equipped with professional narrow‑bezel high‑brightness displays. Several screens are mounted in the branch facade to broadcast service‑package information to attract new and retain existing customers.
